Today, Nazarbayev University’s School of Engineering and Digital Sciences (SEDS) hosted two esteemed professors from Pennsylvania State University: Prof. Igor Aronson and Prof. Slava Rotkin. They delivered impactful talks on cutting-edge topics in biomedical engineering and advanced materials science, focusing on synthetic micromachines for cancer therapy and novel techniques for characterizing 2D materials.

Prof. Aronson, a leader in biomedical engineering, presented his research on the use of synthetic micromachines for targeted drug delivery and cancer therapy, discussing innovations in nanomotor swarms and chiral micro-propellers. Prof. Rotkin, an expert in materials science, explored his groundbreaking work in near-field microscopy of 2D materials, highlighting their potential for applications in electronics and biosensing.

Following their lectures, the professors met with our Dean, Prof. Yelyzaveta Arkhangelsky, for a productive discussion on future academic collaborations. This meeting marks an exciting step in strengthening our global partnerships and advancing research in these pioneering fields. The event underscores SEDS’ commitment to fostering international collaborations and pushing the boundaries of innovation in both research and education.
