Students from Nazarbayev University School of Mining and Geosciences won 1st place at the Annual Geological Universiade, representing Nazarbayev University among leading geology universities from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
The competition was organized by Satbayev University and hosted by D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University. The Universiade brought together eight leading universities and provided students with an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge, practical skills, teamwork, and readiness for real geological fieldwork.
Throughout the competition, participants completed a series of challenging tasks in key areas of geology, including mineralogy, field route studies, hydrogeology, engineering geology, sedimentology, petrography, and geophysics. These stages required not only strong theoretical knowledge, but also careful observation, analytical thinking, accuracy, and effective teamwork.
Representing NU SMG, the team successfully completed all stages of the competition and achieved the highest result among the participating teams.
